Travelling to destinations other than your own country often involve the payment of travel taxes since it is considered a luxury to travel. In the Philippines, the current travel tax rate is 1,620 pesos (approximately $35) per person as of June 14, 2010. Children from 2 to 11 years old are eligible to apply for a huge price slash on the Philippine travel tax rates. In order to receive this benefit, one must apply for a reduced travel tax certificate.
Application for the certification may be done in either of two places. The first one is located in the DOT building along TM Kalaw Avenue in Malate, Manila. The other processing center is found in the Clark Economic Zone.
Since the internet has allowed more and more people to book their air tickets online, travel taxes are often settled in the airport on the day of departure. However, if you would like to avail of the discounted and reduced travel tax rates for children, it is recommended that you visit either of the two places mentioned. It only takes a few minutes of your time and the queue is not long, considering the significant amount of money you will be able to save, most especially when you have more than one child.
We no longer need travel agencies to do this service for us for a fee. The internet has provided all the information we need to get what we need. Happy traveling to you and your family!
